In America we struggle with gluttony. Many other countries struggle with starvation. Shouldn't there be an easy remedy?

leaves that are green

Quite a bit has been going on lately. First of all, I started my job. It's been going well except that I've had mainly night shifts which I don't like at all. I'm a night person so I don't like giving away the productive part of my day to corporate America. Next week I have a lot of earlier shifts so life is looking good. It's actually very ironic that I'm working in a movie store because I've seen probably about 3% of the movies in our store. It's a job though.

Tonight I went to a show at 3rd and Lindsley and I had an enjoyable time. It made me really miss Sammy and Daniel. I would give a whole lot for us to all be together right now on the road playing shows every night but...it's not a possibility. To get my point accross I'll use this analogy. Us being apart is like falling head over heals for a and then being seperated from her for an indefinite period of time. But we'll be together again soon enough. Sigh.

I watched the Pianist the other day. Talk about a great movie. I went out the next day and bought the book it was based on. The movie's almost exactly taken from the book. It's weird to think that only 60 years ago men were so twisted that they could justify the murder of 6 million human beings. Yet we aren't too far above that. It makes me wonder how much longer we'll be at this state of relative peace.

It's late. Goodnight folks.

quick update

I was awoken this morning to a call from Movie Gallery informing me that I have a job. Not a bad thing to wake up to. Starting Monday I will be employed and hopefully the number that my bank tells me will begin increasing instead of steadily depleting. Also, now I may have motivation to go to bed before 2am and get up before noon. That's about it for now. Be sure to check out my new photo gallery.

a few changes

As you can tell, my site's undergone a makeover. I had a tough time choosing between this one and one entitled "Girls Suck" but I settled on this one. Also, to appease the Xangans I set this up to update my xanga whenever I post something on here. So you can go ahead and subscribe to me if you so desire. If you do the myspace thing I now have one and so does Thorntree so be our friends.

I just got the new Coldplay CD and it's really good. They definitely exceeded my expectations for a third album. I was a little scared because their single sounded like everything else they've ever put out, but the rest of the CD kinda goes in a new, fresh direction.

This weekend I should find out if I have a job for the summer. Everyone will be envious of my minimum wage paying Movie Gallery job. Don't deny it.

Farewell.

an unfortunate event

Chris Thile (one of my favorite musicians if you didn't already know) was playing a show here on Sunday. So here's the story. The show started at 8 and we got there at about 7:45 and it was already sold out. For some reason he likes playing in venues that hold about 150 people. We decided that since we didn't have anything else to do we would wait around to see if anybody would leave. There were some others waiting outside but the number slowly dwindled leaving us and 2 others. We were the first in line so we would get in first. The door opens and two people walk out meaning that I could go in! I gladly pull out my ten dollars and the lady accepting it proceeds to ask for my I.D. since you had to be 21 (which I was unaware of). I tried reasoning with her as I saw a 12 year old sitting in the corner but I had no luck. Moral of the story: you have to be 21 to hear good music in this country. Talk about ridiculous.

Other than that things are going pretty well here. I'm still job hunting, but I think I'm gonna get a job at Movie Gallery where Jarrod used to work.

Here's a picture of our music room (as promised) where I spend a lot of my time:

The Music Room

That's all for now.
